I have now installed the http://drupal.org/project/auto_nodetitle module which removes the title. I have also added a "send / reply to" field so posts can be directed at users. |

Welcome slantview! this may take off after all. Once I get the title sorted I will be looking at the body field and trying to work user references into it. Then comes the custom theme! |

Slowly getting there, but I think some custom modules and themeing is needed to make this into the next microblogging site. |
